Can there be any way to diagnose a hiatal hernia without seeing a doctor?

No.: Even your doctor will need to get x-rays to make sure.

Hiatal hernia: No. You need to see a doctor who can order an upper GI x-ray or perform an upper endoscopy on you to make this diagnosis.
