Is isometric exercise good for muscle building, definition or power?

Mostly, first two: Isometric exercises are one where one uses muscle strength against an immovable or difficult to move resistance...Like standing in a doorway and with the arms at your side pushing against the inside of the door with the back of hands as hard as possible and maintain the push. This helps mainly the long muscle fibers definition and strength.
