Yes he can & should: Diazepam is indeed addictive. Though may be difficult especially if you have been on diazepam for a long time, you can benefit from a weaning process that minimizes withdrawal symptoms. Do discuss this with your primary physician, a pain management specialist, or a psychiatrist.

Yes he should: Diazepam is an old treatment for anxiety. There are newer safer meds on the market for treatment that are non - addictive
