Xifaxan (rifaximin): Has been used in the treatment of SIBO or bacterial overgrowth, but I am not aware of its efficacy in IBS. I think the true question is: do we know what condition you suffer from? Sometimes a therapeutic trial can answer this question. Your doctor will not get in trouble.
