Get 2nd opinion from: another ENT doctor if you are getting nowhere from your 1st doctor. Not sure what you were irrigating your ear with? If with normal saline to help remove wax, that normally doesn't cause permanent hearing loss. If you perforated your ear drum from vigorous irrigation, that needs to be addressed fully by another ENT doctor, who can test your hearing, and advise you better.

True: Nerve hearing damage is determined by a comprehensive hearing test. Different doctors may treat this differently. You should probably have some more workup depending on the timing. Sometimes a fistula can occur from trauma that may require surgery

Ear: If the heating test confirmed a nerve hearing loss and oral steroids haven't worked yet there is an option to put steroids into the inner ear. You also should get an MRI of the ear as well.

2nd opinion: You would do best to ask your ENT to clarify the diagnosis. There may be more information from the testing that we do not have at this point. Would consider a second opinion if that is not satisfactory.
