How long has it hurt: Not sure if your ankle pain is due to a sprain or some other injury, but if it was improving and then started to hurt after resuming normal activity, then it may have been too much too soon. Ankle sprains can take 6 wks to heal, so if it has been less than that you need to still take it easy. Do you have an ankle splint or elastic wrap? Sometimes it helps to wrap the ankle before activities
