Depends largely: upon your risk factors and physical findings. But if your doctor had ANY suspicion of cancer, I am sure he would have referred you to the appropriate specialist.

Not complete: If you have risk factors such as tobacco and alcohol use along with symptoms of lump sensation in throat, hoarseness, food sticking, soreness, bleeding, you should see an otolaryngologist to evaluate your throat with a flexible scope in the office.
