Needle biopsy: Hi. You should see your doc and have the lymph nodes and your thyroid examined. Anything suspicious should have a needle biopsy if indicated. Pathologic lymph nodes in the neck could be from thyroid cancer or lymphoma. Of course, the could be from a viral or bacterial throat infection, and not related to cancer at all. Thus the importance of discussing this with your doctor. Good luck!

?how long?: Lymph nodes under your neck are not related to scrubbing hard during bathing. The nodes are regional screening agents that remove debris and germs from the serum and enlarge if something is creating this debris nearby. The neck glands handle serum from the throat and neck region and often enlarge after a throat infection. If enlarged for > 2-3 weeks or without an infection, I'd see your doc.
