A member asked:

I have hypothyroidism. is it safe to have a ct scan w/ contrast? if an mri alternative? i also have a harrington rod in my back. any alternative.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Thyroid and CT: If your hypothyroidism is appropriately treated there is nothing to worry about. If you do not have renal impairment, then the use of contrast should be safe. Every test, including a CT, is a balance of risks and benefits. If you need the CT, then go with your doctor's advice.
