Thyroid CT: A ct of the thyroid is not done often. An ultrasound, with biopsy of any nodules, is usually all that is needed. If there were a tumor, and there was a need to stage it prior to surgery, or if the goiter were large and possibly obstructing something, a ct may be done. It is not normally done for simple hypothyroidism.
