Ear infection: About 85% of ear infections are actually caused by a virus and will not be treated by antibiotic. I would suggest you add a decongestant to help you relieve some of the pressure.

Follow up with MD: It is possible that the bacteria infecting your ear is resistant to the antibiotic that you were prescribed. One of the problems doctors are facing these days is antibiotic resistance. It is possible that you may also have a sinus infection or that the infection is getting better but the pain may be related to pressure in the ear/sinus. You need to have a MD look at your eardrum/sinus.
