A member asked:

Could a painless bump on the shin be a blood clot? if so could it be linked to or a symptom of dvt?

DVT occurs: mainly in the deep vein is the calf, not anterior shin. If there is any question, a venous doppler study is usually diagnostic.

Unlikely: A bump in the shin area could be the result of injuring oneself, or a fatty tumor. One can develop a bump from Superficial thrombopheblitis that can occur in the anterior leg, but would most likely be painful. A DVT is defined in the deep veins which occur deep in the muscles of the leg, or thigh.
