A member asked:

What are some options for the treatment of pleural effusion of both lower lobes causing pain and impeding full breaths after multiple pleurodeses?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on cause: The CAUSE of the pleural effusions is the most important factor. Both sides usually means heart failure, liver problems, kidney failure, or cancer in both lung spaces. All of these are difficult problems without easy answers. It is important to talk to an experience thoracic (chest) surgeon about the cause, and the possible treatments, which depend on the cause. Good luck to you!
