A member asked:

How would one heal an anterior ankle impingement? it's been 5 months since injury. i heard you can immobilize, is that true? is surgery the only way?

One could attempt : A period of immobilization in order to calm down any inflammation. But, by definition impingement implies a structural deformity usually in this case with bony prominences or spurs. Removing them eliminates the impingement. The surgery has a high success rate.

Immobilize: You can rest it in a boot for a short period of time. Anti-inflammatory medication and sometimes a cortisone shot can help. These are band aid fixes, however. Surgical intervention is beneficial if conservative measures fail
