Pleural Reaction: It usually indicates an area of the pleura (lining over the lung and lining inside the chest cavity where the lung sits) that appears to have higher density on x-ray usually from swelling. This is usually from inflammation, but can have other causes. I would consult with your physician as they have your full medical history which helps lists particular probably diagnoses.

Suggests: That there could be some inflammation of the pleural space(the space around the lungs) or another process causing fluid to build up in the space around the lungs. There are many causes of either, so please review with your doctor what further treatment and evaluation is necessary. Best of luck.

Inflammation: Pleural reaction means thickening or inflammation of the covering of your lung, also known as pleura. We see this finding on chest radiographs with pneumonia, effusion (fluid in lung) or other conditions.
