Finger pain/swelling: finger pains with swelling may indicate joint inflammation. If you have other symptoms such as redness and fever, however, you may have an infection as well and should see your doctor asap. If it's just inflammation, usually a medication like Advil or Aleve (naproxen) taken for a few days will help. Also a cold/ice pack and rest will help with the pain/swelling.

See a doctor: Infections in the fingers and hands can be dangerous and may progress rapidly. You need to see a doctor immediately to determine the cause of the pain and swelling. If it is an infection you need to be on antibiotics as soon as possible.
