I have had a swollen and difficult to straighten (tension can be seen at the second joint palm side) right index finger for 5 months now. i splinted it for 6 weeks, but that did not seem to keep it from swelling regularly. ?

Trigger finger?: You likely have what's called trigger finger. May try applying topical NSAID (need Rx) to see if this helps . If not , it is time to consult an orthopedist.
