Hard to say: There is lots of documentation in the literature about breathing fast and getting numbness and tingling around the mouth. Perhaps you had a bad dream and was breathing fast causing this phenomenon. Given your age and that it has improved on its own I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it happened again. Then you might want to mention it to your regular physician.
