Ask your surgeon: Tell the provider that you have generalized anxiety and would like a medication before the procedure in order to reduce any "attacks". Then continue to follow up with your mental health provider

Ask your doctor: A sedative is not always given before a liver biopsy. However if you anticipate having problems with anxiety around this procedure talk to your doctor about giving you something to take before the procedure. If you do take a sedative before the procedure you would need someone to drive you home afterwards.
