Residual infection: You may still have an infection if the organism was not completely killed by the course of therapy. For some women a three day course is sufficient, others need as long as 10 days. Most women who develop recurring UTIs are given 7 day courses. A resistant organism pay be the cause, the infection may be gone, but the bladder may still be inflamed. If urine culture neg maybe interstitial cystitis.

More info needed: What were original symptoms? Did you have a urine test before treatment? Was a urine culture performed on the specimen? I ask because there are other conditions that can mimic UTI or have symptoms that appear to be UTI in the early stages: Interstitial Cystitis and bacterial vaginosis come to mind. It could just be that there is some residual inflammation in the bladder that needs to clear

Other reasons: Make sure your repeat urine culture is negative. IF this is negative, then you should be concerned over other possibilities. Occasionally chlamydia may also cause urinary symptoms, and this should be checked for. This would need to be done at the Dr's office. Also the bladder lining may just be hypersensitive after the URI--cranberry juice in small amounts(2-3oz at bedtime--is effective
