A member asked:

I need my vp shunt to break bc it has been causing pain for 2 weeks but neurosurgeon said it was fine i cant sleep with the pain i need it out ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No you don't: Do you fully understand what your shunt does? It drains CSF that would cause increased pressure on your brain into your abdomen where it is reabsorbed. If it broke or quit functioning then you would have increased pain. With your history of migraine it is likely that they need to be controlled. See your doctor or a neurologist for help with that.
