Tell your surgeon: Tell your surgeon during consultation. There are ways to ensure you can breath but the surgeon has to be aware so he/she can prepare for it. Rest assured, monitoring devices are connected to you through out the surgery and your vital signs are being monitored. So even if you do not tell the surgeon, they will discover it quickly. But it may prolong the surgery.
