Chronic cough: You may have reactive airway disease or asthma. You may also have upper respiratory tract allergies with post-nasal drip when you lie down which irritate your throat and cause coughing. Try an antihistamin to see if it helps. If the cough is productive of phlegm and there is fever, you may need antibiotics.
