Bronchitis: There are also medications available that help to thin the mucus and make it easier to expel. You might also want to have a pulmonary function test to see how your breathing is doing. Your doctor can prescribe inhaled medications to improve your function and symptoms. Of course, avoid smoke and other irritants.
