Morning halitosis: It could be many things including but not limited to post nasal drip, periodontal (gum) disease, an infection, heavy subgingival calculus, etc. Start by seeing a dentist for a complete and thorough examination. You might also be referred to a physician for a consultation if your dentist suspects a medical and not dental cause.

Many reasons but: Mouth-breathing due to nasal obstruction from allergies may be one of the answers. Get your nose opened up and you may find improvement in your breath. Other factors: Poor dental hygiene (gingivitis), odorous foods (curry?), acidic stomach etc can also cause bad breath. You may also try using mouthwash before bedtime.

How long?: Overall dental health or specific dental/gum problems can cause bad breath. How long since your last Dental check-up? Failure to floss, improper or insufficient brushing, food impaction areas, damaged teeth or gums, failure to brush tongue, can contribute to problem. Have you been evaluated for tonsillitis, sinusitis, GERD, diabetes? How long since last medical exam? And the list goes on.
