Yes.: ADHD can cause problems with attention and concentration in school. The impulsivity and hyperactivity can also cause behavioral problems which get the individual in a lot of trouble . Untreated, ADHD can impact both social and psychological aspects of your life.

Academic difficulty: Some of the core symptoms of ADHD such as inattention, forgetfulness, difficulty following directions, inability to focus, and hyperactivity make schoolwork very challenging for some people with this disorder. Not only do they have difficulty with grades, they often time have interpersonal problems with their peers and teachers.

Yes, it is hallmark: The diagnosis of ADHD requires impairment in function by the criteria set by Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). So for kids that means school and it is a defining features. Although hyperactivity and/or inattention must prevail in more than one setting e.g. it's gotta be problematic at home too. See your pediatrician and describe symptoms. They may treat or refer to psychiatrist.

ADHD and school: ADHD can clearly impair a student's ability to function their best in school. There are several forms of ADHD all of which impact learning. Some kids are unable to sit still in class. Other children may not have the hyperactivity component but still cannot focus on work they do not find interesting. Other children can focus but they can't organize their papers and books.

ADHD and learning: Yes. If a child is inattentive, distracted, forgetful they are likely to have some learning problems. For instance, they may have trouble reading/following directions. It is also possible to have ADHD and learning disabilities. Testing would help determine the correct diagnosis.
