Asymmetrical Tonsil : EBV is a known commensal in the oropharynx and can be associated with tonsillar hypertrophy. Generally, tonsil size being larger during infections and then subsiding is quite normal. However, if there is a persistent asymmetrical enlargement of the tonsil, i.e. one tonsil being larger than the other, then in that situation further examination and removal may be indicated.
