Freedom of choice: The important issue to consider here is to have the surgeon and the restorative dentist work together as a team for the best placement of the implant and best function and esthetics of the final restoration. Make sure you are selecting the surgeon for the right reason! Just be open, honest and courteous.

Best...: Talk with the periodontist to thank him for his service and explain why you are leaving the practice. The bottom line is you have find an oral/max surgeon that accommodates your needs and lifestyle. I am sure that your former periodontist will be very happy for you. Best...

Team Effort: You may say no to the periodontist for the implant surgery, but you may also need the periodontist for more gingival surgeries in the future.. discuss your decision in a professional manner and explain that you feel more comfortable with this arrangement. Professional care is your choice.
