Check it: If it were a simple dental abscess it would resolve with removal of the tooth and antibiotics. Sometimes there are retained pieces of tooth that need to be removed and at times the jaw can be effected. These are more serious problems that should be evaluated by the oral surgeon that helped you.

Call Surgeon: The surgeon should be made aware that the antibiotic may no longer be effective... it also may be necessary to surgically drain the remaining infection. Antibiotics can't always get to the heart of the problem.

It will heal: Follow up with your dentist or an oral surgeon as advised. Complete the prescribed course of antibiotics, even when you start feeling better.

Likely, but...: It should heal uneventfully, but not so in all cases. Much depends on the complete removal of the infected tissue in the socket after tooth removal. Much "granulation " tissue may have been present and this would need to be completely removed for best healing sequence. Debris, bone/tooth fragment may be present and causing the "pus" . Call the Dentist who removed the tooth for follow-up. Good Luck

Call: Call your treating Dentist or specialist Oral Surgeon to report your symptoms. Depending on how badly the bone was infected by the abscesses tooth, additional treatment may be required.
