Invisalign: Generally speaking, the Invisalign dentist should be able to satisfy your orthodontic needs with additional treatment.

Sad scenario: As an Orthodontist I see many cases treated by non-Orthodontists that have not come up to the patient's expectations. Has to do with training and experience. Just because clear aligners are easily available, doesn't mean that they're the right treatment modality for your malocclusion. If the GP isn't able to correct the difference between your expectations and your "result," see the specialist.

Trust ortho: the orthodontist has 3 years of training in adjusting your teeth than the dentist. For a dentist, invisalign is just an easy way to make money-- they are not truly qualified to do this treatment (they do it anyway, as it is not illegal-- but they really should not). The orthodontist is the one trained in addressing your malocclusion. trust their decision on this one

Orthodontist vs GP: An orthodontist is a dentist who has specialized and trained two to three years longer than a general dentist. If a general dental practitioner is providing orthodontic services, he/she is not an approved specialist in orthodontics. It is your call.

You are the boss: If your goal was quick and short term to fix a cosmetic problem only you can judge if your dentist met your goal. When you consulted an orthodontist he looked at the WHOLE picture. TMJ, bite, alignment, position of the the ROOTS(not of just what you can see of the teeth). Then presents a plan to treat the whole mouth, not just crooked teeth. and one that has the best chance to stay that way after
