A member asked:

What happens if someone has had diabetes for 24 years and have retinopathy .could they get an insulin pump from the diabetes clinic ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Insulin pump: There are lots of ways you can get an insulin pump. You don't need to wait until you have retinopathy and insurance may cover it. But it is not necessarily the answer for diabetes. Although the pump infuses insulin, you still need to test your own glucose.... many times per day. You still need to count carbs, and tell the pump what to do. Talk to your diabetes doctor.
