No: A child with type 2 diabetes should not need Insulin nor pumps, unless he is very far along in his disease. Usually, a child gets obese by eating too many calories, and gets pre-diabetes (type 2); which can be resolved with proper diet and exercise. If pre-diabetes advances to diabetes, then the child needs medications (plus proper diet and exercise). If that plan fails, then Insulin is added.

With insulin needs: Kids with type 2 diabetes may eventually become Insulin dependent. Under those circumstances an Insulin pump may be an appropriate way to deliver insulin. Your endocrinologist will be very helpful in discussing this with you.
