can gallbladder problems cause fatigue? i have periods of extreme fatigue even w little activity. i'm not overweight but have gallstones any ideas?

It could...: ...but lots of things can cause fatigue. Usually, gallbladder problems manifest as upper abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. Fatigue is further down on the list.

Yes.: Gallbladder disorders tends to cluster in families. That being said, there is no gene that you can test for to see if you will develop gallbladder disease. For example, one of the risk factors for developing gallstones is being overweight; being overweight tends to run in families.

Sometimes: About 20% of people who have their gallbladder removed experience diarrhea after eating fatty foods. This often resolves spontaneously within a few weeks after surgery. Ironically, a common wive's tale about gallbladder surgery is that it leads to weight gain. Actually, the weight gain may occur if someone was eating healthy before surgery to avoid attacks and goes back to these foods post-op.
