A member asked:

Hi, my mom had a tumor on the optic nerve 0.25x0.36x0.4cm. is surgery the only way to remove it? how can it be treated?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tough to determine: Not knowing the pathological characteristics of the tumor, tough to advise you. Some cases, gamma knife is useful, others might respond to irradiation or chemotherapy, but in some cases, surgery is life saving. But a lesion on the optic nerve might be precarious, and risk blindness. Would get additional opinions from ophthalmology and neurosurgery.
