A 37-year-old female asked:

mom's (70) getting cataract surgery. will get 20/20 for distance in 1 eye & 20/20 for close-up in other. why can't doc give total 20/20 in both eyes?

It is possible: She would have to pay for each eye for a "premium" lens which costs an extra $1000 each. She has probably discussed this with the surgeon and decided on the very workable option of setting one eye for near and one for far. Ask if she knows about premium lenses.
