Depends: Sometimes treatment with a different medication combination will work. Also it depends on why they think that the H. Pylori is not eradicated. For example, the blood test will stay positive even after successful treatment and the stool test can stay positive for a short while after successful treatment. . You might need an endoscopy to evaluate the cause of the pain.

Ulcer: Have you verified that the H pylori is still present ? If it is still present, may need add'l antibiotics. H pylori is thought to be the cause of most gastric ulcers. If this is the case, it may take months of healing to calm the ulcer - avoid alcohol, tobacco and spicy or acidic foods, take rx'd meds - especially proton pump inhibitors like nexium, (esomeprazole) priolosec or protonix.
