Tendinitis: What you're describing sounds like achilles tendonitis. This tendon attaches your calf muscle to your heal. Tendons are slow to heal. If you injured it but didn't give it time to heal up before your next run, it would likely "act up." Take a couple of days off then walk rather than run for a week or so, along with an Advil (ibuprofen) before running and calf stretches afterwards may help.
