Allergy to amox?: It is unlikely for the vaccines given at one year to cause hives. allergy to Amoxicillin may cause hives after a course was given(if this was the first time in her life. Please double check with her pediatrician

Possible allergy: Your child probably has an allergic reaction from one of the components of the vaccinations he received. Most important thing to do would be to get him checked again so your pediatrician can report this reaction with the Vaccine Adverse Effect Reporting (VAER) system. Until then use Liquid Benadryl (diphenhydramine).

Possible Amox rxn: Hives would be unlikely from the usual 1 year shots. It is more likely from the Amoxicillin. A reaction can occur even at the end of the course or once finished. You should review other possible new exposures and discuss this all with your child's doctor. Of course, if there is any difficulty breathing or swallowing with the hives, you should take your child to the emergency room ASAP.
