Need more info: Could be normal. Please report this to the physician who is caring for your child. Several complications can occur to a 6 yr old that can impact on the child's pulmonary status. The physician should instruct you about proper pulmonary toilet to prevent complications. You do not want gastric contents getting into the lungs. I assume the physician has prescribed medication. Croup is serious.
