A member asked:

Is bright green mucus in stool sign of infection? what needs to be done?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mucus on stool: Mucus discharge occurs in up to 50% of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, with or without pain. Mucus may also be produced in response to partial obstruction, chronic constipation, rectal dysfunction, infection, & even from secretory villous tumors of the rectum. Green tint to your mucus is the color of bile. If this presentation is new or worsening for you, get medically checked.
