Green mucous: Only rarely does stool color indicate a serious intestinal condition. Stool color usually is influenced by what you eat and the amount of a substance called bile which is produced by the liver. Green color may be caused by diarrhea, green leafy vegetables, green food coloring in flavored foods and drinks. If you have bloating, diarrhea, change in color of the stool or pain see your doctor.
