Hard to say...: Does he have his other teeth? Was he ever seen by a dentist? It might be that those adult teeth are right under the gumline. Only a local dentist or pediatric dentist cal tell for sure. Call one to make an appointment.

See your dentist: 6 years old is about the appropriate time for a child to start losing their "baby" teeth. The replacement adult teeth are more than likely present, but have not appeared. The best thing to do for piece of mind is to see your dentist and have the status of your child's teeth evaluated by a professional. If by so slim chance something isn't within normal limits, there is time for correction!

Be patient: In some children, the first permanent molars are the first to emerge at age 6-61/2; in others, the incisors are the first to emerge. Girls' teeth usually erupt slightly earlier (6-8 month) than boys. Hope it helps.

Born With Teeth: Many children are born with teeth, usually the lower central incisors, they call them neonatal. sometimes they stay the course but is common for them to exfoliate early. As long as the permanent incisors are visible on a radiograph there is little cause for concern. They can be problematic to the mother when nursing.
