24 Hrs On Medicine: You have a 2 yr old "with staph". Staphylococcus causes numerous types of bacterial infections. Skin infections are contagious and require antibiotic treatment. Choice of antibiotic is important as resistance can be a problem. If your child has received appropriate antibiotic therapy, return to activities is advised after 24 hrs on medication. See your doctor if new areas of infection appear.
