Floor of mouth, side of tongue and ear discomfort. ent said everything normal. pcp says tmj. i have a habit of thrusting tongue. what causes this pain?

TMJ: anterior digastric muscle spasm. TMJ disorder is the second most frequent cause of orofacial pain after dental pain. The common symptom are: headache, jaw pain, tongue pain, neck pain, eye pain, earache. Proper diagnosis is the key for the successful treatment. This disorder will not resolve on its own with home care. Rec.: orofacial pain specialist for evaluation and treatment.

Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
