A member asked:

Pcp performed general lab work. the results showed high ana (1:1280) rnp (8) crp (18) and sed rate (90), low vit d and b12. i have no symptoms other than mild raynauds. is this indicative of autoimmune disease now or in future?

These positive tests are indicating a connective tissue disease (autoimmune disorder) and ongoing inflammation is present. A referral to rheumatology is indicated.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your data is consistent with a propensity to autoimmune disease and consultation with a rheumatologist is warranted. Wish you good health.
