Interesting ..: While I'm not caring for you and I hate to second guess physicians care, it that seems like a lot of testing. How high is your lipase? Why was a lipase checked if you have no symptoms. It sounds like there is a lot more going on to this story and without a better picture it is difficult to answer your question reasonably. Many things can elevate lipase levels like celiac, meds, etc. Good luck.

No.: Like with every procedure there are risks. EUS is considered a low-risk procedure. Benefit outweighs the risk. Lipase is specific for pancreatic cells, having an elevation should generally not be considered normal, and finding the source is important. Make sure you are in agreement on pursuing this with your gastroenterologist, and make sure to clarify your goals of care to your doctor.
