Abscess: Not all abscesses need to be drained. Your physician is treating an abscess with antibiotics. That is fine unless there is a treatment failure.

I went to doc again about my breast abscess. Its smaller now. She put me on antibiotics for one more round. She plans to send me to a breast surgeon for a draining if needed and a u/s with biopsy. Is this reasonable? I had normal mammogram in July?
Will antibiotics prevent sepsis or such from breast abscess? My mom has one but they have not drained it yet. Shes on Doxycycline 100 mg 2x a day. She started today. Her temp is normal?
