Please disregard my other questions. i went to doc for swollen nipple & its a abscess. im on antibiotics. i have to follow up with my pcp. i assume itll need drained? is that painful? i had a boil on back once lanced and hurted quite a bit?

Antibiotics can reduce the size and pain of an abscess. The most definitive cure comes when it is drained surgically and the core outer lining completely removed. Failure to remove the lining can lead to recurrence. It is usually done under local anesthetic but will still hurt.
