Only one option: Benzodiazepines like clorazepate bind the GABA receptor complex and increase overall sedation of the brainl. These medicines are best used short-term until the SSRI or SNRI anti-anxiety medication takes hold. If possible, you want to use the lowest helpful dose of the benzo's due to potential for sedation, intoxication, tolerance / dependence, balance, and memory troubles, esp with older folks.
