A member asked:

What to do if i have non-ossifying fibroma in the right arm from my shoulder to my elbow. i am 42 years young. does anyone know what this is?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Follow: A nonossifying fibroma or fibroxanthoma is a fibrous bone lesion usually asymptomatic and discovered incidentally on x-ray. It is considered a developmental disorder of growing bone. It originates from the growth plate, located near the metaphysis and diaphysis of long bones.. No treatment needed in asymptomatic patients . Spontaneous remission frequent. When symptomatic a Tikhoff Lindberg procedure replaces the humerus with a prosthesis while preserving the neurovascular pedicle.
